I love My Dogs

As you may have guessed. A few of my blogs have contained references to the two puppies we brought home last year. April and May are now about 10 months old. They are doing great. I don't mention our other two dogs much. Didi and Glory, affectionately anc collectively called: The Dummies, are now Just one. Didi, our 11 yo springer spaniel passed about two weeks ago.

We have had Didi since my oldest child Caveboy was just 2. She was joined one year later by Glory, my 10yo mutt. They had a tumultuous, sisterly relationship. Always fighting for dominance of the yard, kennel, food, and human attention. Didi was eager to please and attention hungry while Glory became aloof and cranky. A year ago the vet said that Didi had developed crystals on her stomach that could be cancerous tumors. This winter it became apparent that they had indeed developed into cancer. Didi began having trouble walking and was very apathetic. A few weeks ago Maverick noticed that she had a large lump on the side of her stomach and she began to stop eating well.

On Monday, April 28 Didi joined Bumper (Maverick's elderly springer spaniel) Darby (originally my dog but became Mom and dad's) and Mandy (Maverick's brother's family's Black Lab) in doggie heaven.

Miss Glory has adjusted quite well to her doggy sisters disapperance. She has calmed down in temperament. Becoming friendly and even affectionate. I have not heard her growl or bark at anyone since Didi's passing and whenever I enter the backyard she comes up to me for what has become our routine hug and petting before she goes into her kennel or eats. She is like a different dog. But I know she misses her sister. Every night she wanders the yard as if looking for Didi. It makes me sad to see but I know Didi is better off and not in pain anymore. And it is terrible to say, but the change has been remarkably good for Glory who is practically a new dog.

Well now the girls would like my attention and I have some doggie biscuits with their names on them.

So good bye from April, May, Glory, and Ursula.

I love going to Missouri

And I finally will be going. YAY! I hate winter and this year we have gotten a lions share of it. I also suffer from winter blahs. Add to that a loss of a job, the stress of starting a new job, working six days a week at said job, and then a heavy duty bout of bronchitis for three of my four family members coinciding with a death in the family. We are finally starting to feel better and it is warming up cautiously. That is to say it will be mostly 40s this week but each day starts out 20 or below and it is sure to be followed next week by 30's or lower.

But thats ok because God willing I will be in Missouri at the beginning of next week. Thats if I manage to fight off the last off this asthma/bronchtis and feel better. I still have to get through 4 more days of work and every day I am not feeling better it takes even more out of me.

Ok enough whining. Bottom line, I will feel better and I WILL be going to Missouri! I can't wait! My Mom has all sorts of stuff planned for us. She is making all of our fav foods and all sorts of stuff. It is only three days...so sad. But at least it is something. I am just happy to be going there. SO HAPPY!! Want lots of pictures while I am there so I have to remember my camera. Man I better start a list now...sigh.

This will also be the first trip with just May. (my black lab for those keeping track.) First time April and May will be seperated and everything. So I also have to remember all my doggie paraphanalia. LOL. Food, treats, a toy, leash, etc. The kids are excited I am excited and May doesn't know it yet but she is excited too. Hehehe.

Hope everyone is having a great day and sorry for my long absence.

I Love the Holidays

Let me start the blog by saying congratulations to my hunters!! My baby boy (ok, so he's almost 13 and also almost as tall as me. What did I spawn?) got his first deer his first rifle season out. YAY CAVEBOY! He shot a Nubin Buck at 57 yds. Dropped it in one shot, no tracking! BAM! Of course Maverick got one too and the night after they got home, fresh back straps. YUMMMM! Plenty of venison to get us though the winter. Here is a picture. I am so proud of him.

So our tradition is the day after Thanksgiving, we go get our tree. So on Friday we put on the Christmas Carols and the hot chocolate w/marshmallows and got to decorating. It turned out great and we had so much fun. I feel very festive this year though I really have no reason. I am hoping to keep myself upbeat even though this promises to be a crappy one. As of December 31st I will be unemployed as the restaurant will be closing. The rumor is that the guy who will be taking over the restaurant wants to keep all the employees. We will see what happens. Its just a really crappy time to get unemployed and it came out of no where. The original plan was to shut down in March.

Oh well, enough whining. Why don't you show me I actually have some readers out there and leave me a comment to tell me what is your favorite part of the Holidays.
Come one! Show me some love!!

I Love Wisconsin Weather

Well...sometimes. Today I do because it is already almost 60 degrees out. Yay! The other morning, I went to let the pups out and it was 22 degrees. The morning after that...40 degrees. Crazy Wisconsin weather! Supposed to stay nice most of the week, gradually heading down to the 40's towards the end. And this week...

Its hunting time again! Rifle season is almost upon us. It has been a frenzy of getting the boys ready to head up north and getting my child care in place for the Pixie and of course puppy care in place for the girls. LOL! This year its my weekend to work while the Maverick and Caveboy are gone (sad face) And last year my sis-in-law decided at the last minute that she was going up north. Thus throwing my plans down the drain. I had to call off work the whole time they were gone because I had no one to get the girl off to school on school days or watch her on non-school days.

I was a VERY unhappy camper. This year I had hubby talk to her. Its fine for her to want to go hunting, but so NOT fine to decide at the last minute when she had already committed to me. I needed plenty of notice if she was going and if she said she was going to watch Pixie, then she needed to honor that commitment. So she is working it so she can stay home, watch Pixie and then go up north the day before Turkey Day. Everybody is happy.

Its going to be a girls weekend as Tiffy has to spend the night all weekend to be there for Pixie. She will sleep over Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Watch Pixie Saturday and Sunday and get up and get her off to school on Monday. The the boys should be home sometime Monday night. They were going to stay until Tuesday but Caveboy has to be back to go to school on Tuesday if he wants his prize. He won a Hummer Limo ride with friends to a lunch buffet. So of course to be eligible to go he has to attend school that day...LOL. He worked hard to get this but I can tell Maverick is not happy to have their trip cut even shorter. They already had to shave a day off so they could be home in time to get Pixie off to school on Wed. as that is the day I have no child care. Now they have to come home a day earlier.

Sure hope they have their deer before they are forced to come home or I may never hear the end of it! So what are every one Else's plans for the week? Oh and here is a new pic of the girls. They are now a whopping 42lbs a piece and 17 weeks old now.

I love going up north!

Posted by PicasaAnd here I am at work. This is my view as I look out one of the windows. Its still pretty dark out. Thats what happens when you get up at the butt crack of dawn to go to work.

Ok, so how is everyone today? I am super happy because its my last day of work for a whole week. We head up north Wed. am, about 3 am. Once up North we are cut off from civilization. That is to say no Internet, no land line, and no cable. LOL. It is not completely horrible and it is good to disconnect. It forces you into a different mindset. Easier for the adults, but not so easy for the kids. Caveboy is content as long as he has a video games. But that takes up the one TV that is up there. So that leaves Pixie at loose ends. She will most likely color and draw. Maybe bring some dolls to play with.

And of course we will have the pups to play with, the men will be hunting and all the fun shopping the girls can do. Me I have plenty to keep me busy. I haven't been able to catch up on my DVr'd shows. So I have about 6 DVDs worth of taped programs to watch...LOL. And I hope to use this time to finish Caveboy's afghan that I started this past winter. And hopefully get a good start on Pixie's. And I hope to take advantage of my mother-in-law's knitting experience and get some hands on instruction.

Of course it never turns out the way its planned. There are nightly campfires, ATv's to be ridden, shopping excursions to be undertaken, relatives to be visited and hopefully a little time left over for some peace and quiet. I predict that when I get home Caveboy's afghan will still be unfinished, Pixie's un-started, and I will still have at least 3 DVD's worth of shows to still watch.

So anyway, I know I am not the best at regular blog posts, but for sure this will be my last post for probably at least a week. Unless I get access to a comp up north. We'll see. So everyone have a great week and weekend. Later.

I Love Quiet Time

Well, I had a hard time choosing my topic today. It was between this, I Love Missouri and I Love Fall. But today I don't love fall so much as I did yesterday and I will be loving Missouri even more tomorrow when I am there so that is an entry for tomorrow or Fri.

So onto today. Right now it is peaceful and I love it. Kids are outside, house is shadowed (except for the light of my laptop) and the pups are asleep on the floor. I think I am the only person in my house that doesn't have to have some form of noise (usually the TV) blaring in the background. I enjoy, even crave the quiet. Not always, but usually.

So after I get done with this entry (which will be short so as to take advantage of said quiet) I will be using this time to, well, catch up on some DVR'd shows. I know, noise. But I have been enjoying the quiet for almost an hour now. And with the kids gone its not just the quiet I can enjoy but the empty house to do with what I want. So I am going to watch TV, feed the pups and then order some pizza for dinner.

Did I mention I love Wednesdays, as I don't have to cook dinner? Its pizza night! Yay!

Then on to packing for the mini trip to Missouri. Enjoy your night and may you get some quiet time.
